What is The Robert DiLibero Foundation ? The Foundation is a non-profit organization (501C3) established in New York on January 14, 1998. The foundation services New York City and Nassau/Suffolk county area patients who suffer from Leukemia, Lymphoma, and related diseases. Who was Robert DiLibero? Robert DiLibero is the inspiration behind the foundation. Robert suffered with Acute Leukemia for five years until his passing in March of 1993, at the early age of 25. Our hope is to reflect Robert's warm personality and strong desire to help others in all the work that we do. What services does the foundation provide ? We provide non-traditional support in the form of three main services. First, we offer under-financed patients a chance to get away from their struggles, and enjoy themselves on a special night out on the town. We also offer patients who cannot afford it, modest assistance in paying for wigs or hair pieces that they may want to purchase in result of their treatments. Finally, we offer our assistance to patients and families who are organizing bone marrow drives and need serious help covering HLA testing expenses. Who gets the services ? We would love to assist every cancer patient in need, but we are a very small organization with minimal resources. We primarily service under-financed Leukemia Lymphoma, and Myeloma patients who are under care in the New York City and Nassau/Suffolk county areas. How many patients get these services? It depends. Every four months, our Treasurer and Board of Directors evaluate our budget and determine how much we can offer patients during the upcoming 4 month period. When the budget is determined, the appropriate resources are then allotted for the upcoming period. Where do the patients come from? Social workers, nurses and doctors from area hospitals and treatment centers refer patients to us. Who works for the foundation? The foundation is run completely by hard working volunteers. It is led by the DiLibero and D'Amato families. Where does the foundation acquire the resources to help patients? We acquire resources through various fundraising projects and events. We depend heavily on private donations and sponsorships from local businesses as well. How can I help? Donations keep us going, so we can't stress how important they are to our cause. Please visit our Donation page if you would like to contribute online. Otherwise, checks can be made out to The Robert Di Libero Foundation and mailed to our address. We also accept gift certificates from businesses, and other items we can raffle off. All donations are tax deductible and directly benefit the patient population we serve. You can also help RDF by offering your time. We are always seeking volunteers to assist us with projects and help at our community events. We especially welcome former and current patients and their loved ones. Where can I get more information on the foundation? You can submit questions or comments on our Contact page. How can I contact RDF? The Robert Di Libero Foundation is located at 202-11 36th Avenue, Bayside, New York 11361. Our phone is 718.428.0169 and our email is RDF@rdfny.org Where can I view your organization's IRS 990 filing?
